STORAGE

Global market intelligence firm, IDC estimates that data storage demands will grow from 161 exabytes in 2006 to an incredible 988 exabytes by 2010. This phenomenal growth in storage requirements is being driven by the need to capture and store data for longer from an increasing number of applications and sources.

The 'digital universe' is constantly evolving. Traditional data sources include documents, accounts, e-mail, digital movies and images as well as enterprise resource planning and database applications. New sources include CAD/CAM, visualisation and simulation, surveillance. Overlay all this with the requirement for instant retrieval, backup, archiving, and disaster recovery and it's easy to see why data storage is regarded by many analysts as the critical IT issue facing many companies.

Our breadth of expertise allows us to offer a wider perspective on the enterprise data centre taking into account: processing power requirements, network capacity and resilience, and storage.

CMS offers companies a range of data storage strategies and solutions. These allow the implementation of data storage to be approached more effectively. A range of data storage solutions are available including direct attached storage (DAS), storage area network (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS), as well as higher capacity and availability, clustered storage systems.

CMS can offer independent advice on which technology and scaling would best suit individual organisation's requirements. We have strategic partnerships with HP StorageWorks and Quantum, allowing solutions ranging from 10's of Gigabytes to 1000's of Terabytes.
