IT Governance Checklist
Use this checklist to assess your current IT governance. Tick each item you have in place; gaps are good candidates for a StrategyOS review.
- A documented IT strategy or roadmap aligned to business goals
- Clear ownership of IT strategy (vCIO, internal lead, or shared)
- Budget planning and forecasting for IT spend
- Vendor management: list of key suppliers, contracts, and review dates
- Risk register or equivalent (cyber, operational, compliance)
- Compliance posture documented (e.g. Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, sector-specific)
- Incident response plan and tested recovery procedures
- Visibility into performance: SLAs, ticket trends, project status
- Regular stakeholder alignment (e.g. QBRs or steering)
- Backup and disaster recovery tested and documented
